The "Salzburg Jazz Autumn" is an annual festival of jazz music. It was founded in 1996
and takes place at the end of October and beginning of November. Since 1996, the Salzburg jazz
developed into a large and internationally renowned festival in autumn. Contributors are the absolute
international top jazz stars and Austrian jazz musicians. The main sponsors are the Stiegl Brewery,
the Salzburger Landes-Hypothekenbank and the Austrian Post. Since 1999 the festival has also been organized by
City and state of Salzburg supported. The Salzburg Jazz Autumn consists of a series of concerts
Night sessions, galas, screenings, lectures and exhibitions.
It plays in large and small venues in the city of Salzburg, such as the Large Festival Hall,
the Salzburg Congress, the large university auditorium, the Mozarteum, the Stiegl brewery, the oval stage
in the Europark and the Romanesque Cellar.
The artists include both Austrian jazz musicians and international stars, such as Joe Zawinul,
Sonny Rollins, Johnny Griffin, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Oscar Klein, Sabina Hank, Adam Makowicz and that
Vienna Art Orchestra.
