Is the common good compatible with a thriving economy?

This is a question that has been debated by many, and our management firmly believes that value-oriented, sustainable action can lead to both a thriving economy and the common good.

At its core, acting for the common good means striving towards a collective benefit for society or a company, as opposed to solely pursuing individual or group interests. The common good economy is an economic model that aligns with this principle, with the goal of creating a good life for all people while also maintaining a healthy planet.

The Common Good Balance Sheet is a framework that assesses a company's contribution to the common good across four main categories: human dignity, solidarity and social justice, environmental sustainability, and transparency and participation. By using this balance sheet, a company can demonstrate its commitment to the common good.

The Grünes Hotel zur Post in Salzburg has undergone a Common Good Balance Sheet and achieved an impressive 470 points. This demonstrates the hotel's dedication to creating value not just for its guests, but also for the wider community and the environment.

We believe that it is possible to build a thriving economy while also prioritizing the common good. By adopting a sustainable and value-oriented approach, we can create a better future for all.

The Austrian eco-label and the European eco-label are not only important distinctions for the Maier family of the Grünes Hotel zur Post in recognition of their efforts to operate sustainably, but also as a reassurance for guests that environmental protection holds a high priority in the hotel's philosophy.

We have compiled all of our active environmental protection measures on a dedicated page of our website.

We want you to enjoy, relax and feel comfortable in our hotel, and to that end, we are committed to meeting the high standards of the eco-label.

Savor our organic breakfast buffet in the morning, knowing that we have taken great care to use eco-friendly products.

The eco-label was introduced in Austria to reward businesses and service providers who make a significant contribution to environmental protection.

It is awarded to products, tourism companies, and educational institutions and provides the public with information about the environmental impact of consumer products throughout their lifecycle, from manufacturing and usage to disposal.

The eco-label is the highest award in Austria regarding sustainability and aims to motivate both tourism companies and individuals to do their part in protecting our environment.

The widespread availability of charging options for electric cars is an essential factor for the success and growth of electromobility.

To support this movement, the hotel industry must also play a role in providing charging facilities for their guests, including business travelers and vacationers. The Grünes Hotel zur Post in Salzburg sets an excellent example by offering seven Type 2 charging points and two charging points with a CEE plug for its guests.

Georg Maier, recognizes the importance of providing electric vehicle owners with a reliable charging option during their stay. He believes that offering this service is crucial to providing top-notch customer service.

Additionally, the hotel encourages environmentally conscious travel and offers a special discount of -10% on accommodation costs to guests who arrive by electric car, bicycle, or train and book directly.

By promoting sustainable travel and supporting the development of electromobility, we are helping to create a greener and more sustainable future for all.
